Province of Canada - 1 For 1 Sock Program

Back in November we shared this somewhat shocking stat – "that socks are the least donated, but most requested clothing item at Canadian clothing banks". That tidbit of knowledge struck a cord and inspired us to launch our 1 For 1 Sock Program. Since it's launch, with your help we've raised over 400 pairs of socks.

Once the 1 For 1 Sock Program was rolling we started doing some research to find the ideal shelter to partner with. Our search led us to The Salvation Army's New Hope Leslieville shelter in Toronto.

This new facility, located on 29 Leslie St. provides services for up to 60 people, offering emergency shelter, meals, supportive counselling, housing placement, follow-up services, employment referrals and rehabilitation support for men experiencing homelessness.

Last week we paid New Hope Leslieville a visit and delivered our first drop of socks. We waited until early spring based on the recommendation of the staff at New Hope Leslieville. They shared with us that there's always a shortage of donations once winter is over. Our first drop of socks should equip the shelter with socks through to the summer.

We want to thank everyone who have purchased a pair of socks and, in effect, donated a pair to the cause. We plan on continuing our 1 For 1 Sock Program, partnering with New Hope Leslieville to do what we can to provide them with as many socks as we can.
