Marilyn in Canada

Oh to be in Banff, Alberta in mid-August back in 1953. Photographer John Vachon was, and he had his camera. 

While on assignment to shoot Marilyn Monroe making River of No Return, Mr. Vachon was presented with a unique opportunity. Due to an injured ankle that prevented Marilyn from filming, Vachon got the type of access to Ms. Monroe that any photographer would dream of.

Vachon’s days in Banff with Marilyn resulted in 102 iconic captures. The photos went undeveloped until a book documenting his experience was published in 2010 – Marilyn, August 1953: The Lost LOOK Photos can be picked up on Amazon.
